We live in a time where financial stress is a common burden for many. We’ve all experienced inflation and its effect on our finances. Occasionally an unexpected expense comes along, and we are trying to stretch what we have to make ends meet. We have comfort knowing that God can turn a little into a lot. He can change our circumstances and work supernaturally in our finances.
God’s promise of abundance and blessings is His assurance that He cares about us and every aspect of our lives, including our financial well-being.
I can recall many times when I have received unexpected financial blessings; I recognize God’s hand in my financial journey. I realize there are times that I have been blessed so that I can bless others; these are times when I experience provision and purpose. God promises that if you give it will be given to you (Luke 6:38).
God’s resources are limitless. When we align our finances with God's principles, we put ourselves in a position to receive His provision.
When we follow biblical financial principles, we find so many benefits. These are principles that bring us financial stability and give us peace of mind:
Tithing - Giving the first ten percent of our income to God is a biblical principle that acknowledges all we have comes from Him, He provides everything and is all over our finances. Malachi 3:10
Generosity - Giving to others in need activates a cycle of blessing in our lives. Proverbs 11:25
Budgeting – When we carefully plan and manage resources, we avoid stress by living within our means. Proverbs 21:5
Avoiding Debt – It’s important to limit debt by avoiding excessive borrowing. Proverbs 22:7
Saving - Having a savings plan helps us to be prepared for unexpected expenses and future needs. Proverbs 21:20
Trust in God's Provision – We should be content with what we have and trust that God will provide our needs. Hebrews 13:5
Diligence and Hard Work – Whatever we do, we should give it our best; hard work and diligence often lead to prosperity and financial stability. Colossians 3:23
Incorporating these principles into our financial practices, we invite God’s blessings into our lives.
We can see examples of God's supernatural financial work in many ways. Sometimes we’re facing an unexpected expense and there is no clear solution, and then a financial gift arrives out of nowhere… it might be a bonus, refund, or a friend's generosity. This shows that God knows what we’re going through and He has already arranged plans to meet our needs.
We may be doing our best but we realize that we need an opportunity to increase our income. Opportunities may come through job offers, promotions, or successful business ventures, these are some of the ways that God leads us to greater financial stability and growth.
God can show His power through miraculous debt cancellation. We might find that our debts are forgiven, or funds appear for repayment, or we are given the ability to restructure our debts to reduce the financial burdens.
When we practice wise stewardship, it invites God's multiplication into our finances. This is demonstrated in the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:14-30.
This parable teaches us the significance of being responsible stewards of the resources and abilities God has given us. After reading this parable, we can apply the lesson it teaches by first identifying the resources God has given us.
Next, we need to be wise and diligent in the way we use these resources. Investing in our personal growth is also important. As we learn and grow we should support others along the way. We must be mindful not to let fear or procrastination prevent us from taking action; always look for opportunities to improve and increase what we have.
And finally, we should monitor our progress and be accountable for how we manage our resources. These are ways we can honor God through our faithful stewardship.
God's supernatural work in our finances demonstrates His love and how He cares for us. By trusting in His abundance, practicing wise stewardship, and giving generously, we can greatly experience His blessings in many ways. Let’s remember to invite God into our financial journey and we will be able to witness His amazing provision and faithfulness.
